Promote Preston is a sub-committee of the Yabberup Community Association and is focused on building the economic, environmental and social capital of Preston River Valley.
Preston River Valley covers the localities of Charley Creek, Thompson Brook, Queenwood, Lowden, Yabberup, Mumballup, Glen Mervyn and Noggerup within the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup.
Priority projects for 2023-2026
Expansion of the Wellington National Park
We are providing community input into the expansion of the Wellington National Park including the development of recreation areas, volunteer program and citizen science, education and rehabilitation activities.
Preston River Valley Website
We are developing a website to promote the assets of this region and to support community engagement.
Preston River
We continue to support rehabilitation activities along the Preston River.
We plan to promote the Land for Wildlife program along the Valley with a focus on properties adjacent to Preston River Valley and national / state parks.
Rail Trail
We continue to work with the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup and other stakeholders to advance a rail trail between Donnybrook and Noggerup
Nature Play
We have been exploring funding opportunities to advance a nature play zone in the Lowden-Yabberup area to benefit local residents and visitors.
Roadside art trail
We continue to build partnerships between our local artists and farmers by artifying roadside stalls offering fresh produce.
